Do you build retaining walls and raised beds?

Yes. Because we're bricklayers first, our retaining structures are properly founded, drained and reinforced rather than decorative walls that bow after a couple of winters.

Do I need permission for a new driveway?

If the surface is permeable, or drains to a soakaway or lawn rather than the road, it usually falls under permitted development. A dropped kerb onto a public highway needs Wiltshire Council approval, we'll flag it at quote stage.

When is the best time of year for landscaping?

We lay patios and driveways year round. Spring and early autumn are ideal for ground conditions, but we work through winter with the right protection and mortar practice.

Can you add garden lighting to a landscaping project?

Yes. We work with trusted electrical subcontractors, so lighting and power can be planned into a patio or garden project from the start and installed alongside our work.

What is under the patio matters most

A patio or path that sinks, rocks or holds water is almost always a sub-base problem. We dig out to the right depth, lay and compact a proper sub-base, set falls so water runs away from the house, then bed and joint the paving.

On one Devizes garden transformation we put down between 15 and 20 tonnes of Type 1 sub-base before laying over 100m² of grey porcelain, then added sleeper work, plum slate and new turf.

Because we are builders first, the hard parts of a garden, retaining walls, raised beds, steps and boundary walls, are founded and built properly rather than left to bow after a few winters. Soft landscaping and turf finish the space.

Where a garden needs lighting or power, we work with trusted electrical subcontractors so it is designed in from the start rather than added afterwards.
