Timber & Joinery
Skilled carpentry is essential to every stage of a build. C.E. Bricklaying & Construction provides professional carpentry services across Devizes, Marlborough, Chippenham, Calne, Trowbridge, and the wider Wiltshire and Bath areas. Our in-house carpenters handle structural timber, first fix, second fix, roofing carpentry, and all door and fitting installations to a consistently high standard.
From cut roof structures and floor joists to door hanging, skirting boards, architraves, and window boards, we handle every element of carpentry in-house. This means better coordination between trades, faster project turnaround, and a consistent quality of finish from the structural framework right through to the final details. Our carpenters work on projects across Wiltshire, from extensions and loft conversions to complete new builds.
Whether it's structural timber for a new roof in Devizes, a full second-fix package for a completed build in Chippenham, or bespoke shelving and storage solutions near Bath, our carpenters work with precision and take genuine pride in every detail. Having carpentry as part of our core team, rather than subcontracted, gives us full control over quality and scheduling on every project.
“Courtney and his team are absolutely superheroes! A different builder had installed an unsafe, inadequate supporting timber beam. As soon as Courtney heard my predicament he brought round acros supports to make it safe. He put me in touch with all the people I needed and then fitted a beautiful, heavy glulam beam. He and his team were so professional and went out of their way to support me. Thank you Courtney”

Carpentry
On an extension or alteration the carpentry happens in two stages. First fix is the structure: floor joists, stud walls, roof timbers and door linings, all in before the plasterers arrive. Second fix comes after plastering: doors hung, skirting and architrave fitted, and the finishing details that make a room feel complete.
Because our carpenters work alongside our bricklayers, roofers and plasterers, each stage follows straight on from the last. There is no waiting for an outside trade to fit you in, and no gap between who built the structure and who finishes it.
Carpentry
Outdoor timber has to cope with Wiltshire weather. Decking needs a sound, level base, the right fixings and space for air to move underneath. Porches need to be properly founded, framed and weathered into the house.
One client had us completely rebuild their porch, including tearing down the original structure and removing a concrete roof. They were so happy with the result that they booked us in for additional work.
